Backyard Water Fun

Many families enjoy a variety of outdoor activities when it comes to the summer months. Some families travel to popular places to enjoy their summers. Other families stay at home and frequent their own backyard for some summer fun. In certain areas, the summer months can bring extremely hot temperatures. It is important that you and your family participate in activities outside that can keep you cool. This beats having to stay in the house all the time to stay cool. One of the ways that you can ensure that you and your family can enjoy the great outdoors during the summer months, and stay cool at the same time, is to participate in activities that surround water. Not only can water activities keep you cool, they can be a lot of fun for all members of your family.

One of the most popular ways that you and your family can enjoy backyard water fun is by swimming. Many families have a pool, and then there are some families that do not. If you do not have a pool, there are many frugal alternatives. You can purchase an above ground kids pool for under $200.00 at most major department stores, like Wal-Mart. If you find that this exceeds your family budget, you can purchase small kid pools that you can wade in for less than $20.00. You can also purchase other items that will allow you to have backyard water fun, such as a slip and slide or even a small garden sprinkler.

Purchasing an assortment of water guns is another great way for families to enjoy backyard water fun. Most major department stores will allow you to purchase an entire card of water guns of various shapes and sizes for less than $5.00. Simply clean out large buckets and containers, like garbage cans and clothes hampers, and fill them with water. Place the water containers all around your backyard. Then, have a water gun fight! You can place a flag in the center of the backyard and this can be used as a goal. If someone gets squirted by the water gun, they are out. You can do this by teams, or individuals. It is a great way to have some backyard water fun without spending a lot of money.

Maybe water guns just are not your thing. Well, there are other ways to have backyard water fun. Go down to your local Dollar Store and buy a few bags of balloons. You can get all colors, sizes, and shapes. You can then go home and fill them with water. Once all the balloons are filled, you can play a variety of games that are focused on backyard water fun. Some examples are war, playing catch with the water balloons, play “dodge balloon”, just like you would play dodge ball and so on. This is a great way to have tons of fun in the sun while enjoying backyard water fun.
