Purchasing an assortment of water guns is another great way for families to enjoy backyard water fun. Most major department stores will allow you to purchase an entire card of water guns of various shapes and sizes for less than $5.00. Simply clean out large buckets and containers, like garbage cans and clothes hampers, and fill them with water. Place the water containers all around your backyard. Then, have a water gun fight! You can place a flag in the center of the backyard and this can be used as a goal. If someone gets squirted by the water gun, they are out. You can do this by teams, or individuals. You can get all colors, sizes, and shapes. You can then go home and fill them with water. Once all the balloons are filled, you can play a variety of games that are focused on backyard water fun. Some examples are war, playing catch with the water balloons, play “dodge balloon”, just like you would play dodge ball and so on.
